A few words about me: I’m 33 y.o., I used to live a digital nomad life, but recently I settled down in Poland.
I’m a psychologist, now running my own business (online marketing). I’m a skincare enthusiast always in the hunt for new safe beauty products and natural ways to make my skin and hair healthy and happy.
Travel is my biggest passion, I love hiking, watching sunsets and sunrises (and I’m blessed that I had lived in places that had pretty amazing ones), I’m addicted to mango sticky rice and coconuts, and I’m a F1 psycho-fan!
The Story Behind My Website
Now, it’s time for a little bit of a story behind this website.
Writing was always my passion, but I’ve never thought I would have a beauty website.
I’ll be honest with you: I don’t have a perfect skin.
I’ve been fighting hormonal acne for the last 7 years, which left a lot of red marks on my face. I have terribly sensitive and reactive rosacea skin.
I’ve always had bags under my eyes since I was a kid.
Except for mascara and occasionally eyeliner, I don’t wear makeup.
For 31 years in my life I didn’t even know about the existence of ampoules or what is Gua Sha, and I didn’t see the point in using a facial toner.
You get the picture, right? Doesn’t really sound like a beauty influencer…
But all these conditions that I’m battling everyday with, made me to dig deeper into what I’m actually putting on my skin (and hair).
I became kinda addicted to reading labels and ingredients lists (I actually enjoy reading and researching all those chemical names).
And my goal changed from hiding all my scars and “imperfections” to treating my skin with the most natural, non-toxic and safest beauty products.
But did you know that even dermocosmetics and tons of popular products advertised as “safe for sensitive skin” actually contains harsh ingredients and irritants?
I gave up on using products that contain all that nasty stuff, which is not easy at all in Thailand – that’s why I became a huge fan of Korean skincare.
And this is something I want my website to distinguish from other beauty sources you’ve been reading so far.
Here I’m going to recommend you only products and tips that I personally have used or would not hesitate to try on my own skin and hair.
I’m not going to recommend you something that I wouldn’t recommend to my friend. I’m not going to say that something is “the best” only because the brand is well-known or the product is crazy popular and advertised all over the Internet and beauty blogs.
If you’re struggling with your skincare, just like I was, you’re in the right place. I’m going to share with you my experience and the results. Only beauty products and skincare tips that are backed by science and based on my thorough research.
I’d like to encourage you to embrace your natural beauty and feel confident in your skin. Because You Are Beautie.
Research
To ensure the best quality of the article and knowledge that I’m sharing here, I’m working with medical doctors and nurses from 7 countries around the World.
Each article is based on a thorough research, medical papers and scientific research, and fact-checked by experts.
The information that I share is always evidence-based. I’m not afraid to tell you that I don’t like a specific ingredient or product, or that it doesn’t work effectively (even if it’s a popular product that everyone is obsessed with). Remember that my articles and reviews are not sponsored, and I share here my knowledge, my experience, and my personal honest opinion.
My research is never limited to websites like healthline.com or webmd.com – I dig deeper! That’s why you can often find scientific articles in the references, from sources like:
- National Library Of Medicine
- International Journal Of Dermatology
- American Academy Of Dermatology Association
- Journal Of The European Academy Of Dermatology & Venerology
- British Journal Of Dermatology
- Harvard Health Publishing
- Taylor & Francis Online
- Wiley Online Library
- Science Direct
- Academia
- and many more reputable sources!
Moreover, because skin care and skin health became my passion, I decided to expand my knowledge and started SKIN CARE AND REPAIR Course in Harvard Medical School.
What You Can Find On My Website
Big part of You Are Beautie is the section about Ingredients. I write a lot particularly about ingredients for acne-prone skin (which I’ve been dealing with for many years), as well as dry skin.
Here are a few popular articles that I recommend you to check out:
Using Azelaic Acid And Niacinamide Together – this is an article about powerful combo that helps to face acne scars.
Pairing Glycolic Acid With Salicylic Acid – article about using acids in your skincare routine in a safe way.
How To Use Squalane & Hyaluronic Acid Together – this post is full of tips and tricks for dry and dehydrated skin.
Another large part of my website is the section about Korean Beauty. Personally, I’ve been practicing Korean 10-step skincare routine and its shorter version – 5-step K-beauty routine for a year now.
You can also find here my reviews of Korean skincare products. Here is a list of my favorite K-beauty moisturizers, while in this article I share the best Korean cleansers for all skin types. I have also reviewed products for specific skin types and concerns, for example: check my list of Korean serums that help with acne.
My Story
Wanna know a bit more about my journey? Here’s how I ended up “doing websites” and living in Thailand.
In 2016 I graduated from psychology in my home country. Although psychology will always have a special place in my heart and I’m still passionate about human mind and emotions, at some point my 9-5 job was giving me more panic attacks than satisfaction (kidding, but not kidding).
At that moment I decided to completely change my career and started my online marketing business. Something that at the beginning was just a better job, giving me freedom and flexibility to work whenever and wherever I want, quickly became my passion.
In 2022 I made another big decision in my life. I gave away most of my stuff (clothes, books, and one piece of furniture I owned – a desk), packed the rest in a suitcase and started a digital nomad life.
My journey began in Portugal, which always felt like second home to me. After living for few months in this wonderful country, I decided to leave Europe for the first time.
The first stop was Chiang Mai – the original plan was to stay there for a month, meet the digital nomad community, and then to spend 2 months traveling around SE Asia.
After 2 weeks in Chiang Mai, I felt like I found my place. I felt in love with the city, the vibe it has, the culture, the food, Thai people and the community I met here.
So I stayed. And here I am, almost year later, still in Thailand. Sometimes I can’t even believe how lucky I am to live here.
